A Crossover Based on the Honda Fit on the Horizon?

We here at Smart Honda, in Des Moines are already excited enough about the recent arrival of the 2013 Honda Fit, and even more so for the limited release of the 2013 Fit EV. In fact, the arrival of both highly-anticipated models was almost enough to make us forget that a redesigned version is due out by 2014 or 2015...

...almost. The Honda Fit has quite a bit going for it, which is why we simply can't wait to see what's in store for it next. And a redesigned model might not be the only thing Honda has planned. Specifically, word is getting around online that Honda may be considering an all-new crossover model based on the redesigned Fit platform.

A subcompact crossover might seem like an odd notion at first, but it's actually one that makes perfect sense. The crossover market has boomed ever since its introduction, and with gasoline on the rise, an even more fuel-efficient one might be exactly what consumers are looking for.

The current 2013 Honda Fit is powered by a 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine, which may get a slight upgrade if the platform were to be used in a slightly larger crossover model. Of course, that's assuming Honda even has plans to release such a model in the near future.

That said stay tuned for more on this potentially-exciting new Honda model. We're dedicated to keeping you informed, and we promise to update our blog the moment we hear anything about it.
